Out of all the hand pumps we have talked about the EMAS hand pump is the best because of it's simplicity. You can make it completely with PVC pipe, 2 marbles and some very cheap parts for the handle. As far as I can tell this fellow, Paul Cloesen, created these hand pumps for use in impoverished countries for those who need water. He is really quite inspiring and impressive when you look at all of the simple ways he has designed for well drilling, heating water, cement holding tanks and water distribution.

The Coolest Pump Ever - A Rope Pump
I thought I was seeing things the first time I seen this pump in action. It is the coolest thing ever, a simple rope pump. It delivers a continual stream of water just by spinning a wheel and would be pretty cheap to make. I just love this thing and plan on building one myself this summer. It consists of a rope, some pipe, a wheel, and some washers. Let's take a look at this bad daddy.

How to Build a Water Well Bucket
Today we will find out about another easy way to get the water from your well and into your awaiting bucket. It's called a well bucket and the best part of this design is that it can be used on any well and at any depth, so depending on the size of your well and how much room you have in it, this may be another easy and inexpensive way of achieving our goal. It's pretty simple and just involves constructing a bucket tied to a rope and either using your own muscle power or a mechanical device to lower and raise your bucket.

How to make a PVC Water Hand Pump to use when you have no power
Today we will learn how to create a PVC hand pump to get the water from your well when you have no power and how it all works. I have a few plans to show you on how to make them, which we will get to later, but first let's understand how a PVC hand pump would work, or most any pump for that matter.
If you look at the picture below you can see for yourself how it works.

AHHHHH! No Water! Now What?
Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drinkThat's how I felt in the summer of 2009. Our water well went nuts and after 3 months of dragging hoses and filling buckets we finally got our water back. It lasted until February of 2010 when it went completely out and we had to get a new well. So I can feel the pain of those having no water and it is the one thing I focused on first.
"How would I get water from my well if I had no power for a long period of time?

And So We Begin
Welcome to our new blog “Lady Apprentice”.
We decided to start this blog after watching “School of Rock” with Jack Black. Strange you may think, but it got me thinking about his quote:
"Sticking it to the man."
